Infant Fatally Injured in Dog Attack at Baytown Residence
A tragic incident occurred in Baytown, Texas, where a six-month-old infant, identified as Kyomi Temple, succumbed to fatal injuries following a dog attack in her family’s home. The event took place on April 1 in an apartment located within the greater Houston area.
Emergency responders transported the infant to a local medical facility, where she was later pronounced deceased. The following day, local authorities formally confirmed her passing.
Two male pit bull mix dogs, owned by the family, were secured by animal control authorities from the apartment. After an investigation, officials determined which of the two animals was responsible for the attack. In accordance with city regulations, the dog identified as the aggressor will be euthanized. Reports indicate the family has consented to this action.
The Baytown Police Department has launched an investigation into the matter. At present, no arrests have been made and no charges have been filed.
In the wake of the incident, the family initiated a fundraising effort to help cover funeral and other related expenses. In a public statement, they expressed profound grief over the loss of their infant daughter, who they described as having been taken too soon.
Law enforcement responded to reports of the incident at the Inverness Gardens Apartments shortly before 4 p.m. on the day of the attack. A warrant was issued to facilitate the removal of the animals from the premises. The dogs were discovered inside the residence, with one contained in a separate area and not involved in the incident. The second dog was identified as the one responsible for the attack.
According to statements from neighbors, the child’s mother sought help immediately following the incident. One resident described the mother as visibly distraught, holding her child and invoking faith for comfort.
In response to the tragedy, community members gathered to show support for the grieving family. A memorial composed of flowers and stuffed animals was created near the family’s home. Additional events, including a candlelight vigil and balloon release, were held to honor the memory of the young child and provide emotional support to the family during this difficult time.
